About Us

2gorostravel is owned and operated by Neil and Michelle Goro. We created this blog to inspire others to leave their comfort zone and see the world! We did not sell our home to travel permanently nor are we independently wealthy. We’re just a normal married couple who travels at every given opportunity.

We met in San Antonio, Texas in 2011 after Neil was relocated for work. Michelle had already been in San Antonio for a few years, moving to the Alamo City for graduate school. After reading about her penchant for travel on an online dating site, Neil took a long shot and messaged Michelle (this was in the days before Tinder). To his surprise, Michelle actually responded. The conversation was short-lived as Michelle told Neil she was headed off to Australia for vacation. Neil thought Michelle was just blowing him off, but in reality, she was galavanting around the Hunter Valley, enjoying the crayon blue skies, and climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Convinced Michelle was no longer interested, Neil gave up on her. Michelle resurfaced weeks later and agreed to go on a date. We spent most of that first date discussing our favorite places we had traveled and our travel bucket list.

Our travel adventures began only a few months later in Puerto Rico. Throughout the last 7 years, we have been all over the world together just like we discussed on our first date…a date that we are still living!

Meet Neil

Neil is the man behind the technology. He takes most of the photos and video, as well as edits the media content and flies the drone. Neil also designed this blog (with the help of WordPress).

A native Texan, Neil was born in Houston and grew up in South Florida. He got his first taste of travel as a young child and never looked back. Neil studied at University of Central Florida, but insists you refer to it as “UCF” and acknowledge UCF as the 2017 College Football National Champions. You may have seen photos on Instagram as Neil and Michelle are frequently jetsetting to see Neil’s beloved Knights play their games.

After college, Neil attended law school in Michigan, braving 3 years in the frozen tundra. It was too cold for his warm Texan blood, so he left Michigan and moved back to Texas after securing his first job as an attorney in Austin. Neil owns and operates Goro Law, PLLC, a corporate law firm that serves businesses as outside general counsel, facilitates business transactions, and works with online influencers in brand deals.

Neil says his favorite city is Bangkok and missing out on the street food would be the biggest mistake of your life.

Meet Michelle

Michelle is the lady in front of the camera and the mastermind behind the blog. Michelle is often the center of focus of our photos and video, but more importantly, Michelle’s brainchild is the content of the blog posts.

Originally from Philadelphia, Michelle relocated to Texas in high school. She graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas and received her Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Michelle also was a frequent traveler growing up; her favorite childhood destinations were Italy and anywhere she could ski.

You would never guess, but Michelle works as a data scientist for a software company. Don’t worry, she won’t be utilizing her data analytics skills to determine why you’re reading our blog on a Tuesday morning when you should be working. Your secret is safe with us. When she’s not in front of a computer immersed with organizational data, you can find Michelle running a half marathon, getting her sweat on at OrangeTheory Fitness, or planning activities with the Floofs.

When Michelle was asked to come up with an anecdote or an inspirational travel quote, she kept it simple and to the point: Life is too short not to travel. Upon further reflection, she wanted to pass along this last bit of advice: Take the risk and jump out of a plane. Just make sure you have a parachute!

Meet the Floofs

Paws (red) and Phillie (black) are pure bred Alaskan Klee Kai. They hail from Cascade Klee Kai in Battle Ground, Washington. They are biological siblings, but were born in different litters. The Floofs have very little contribution to this blog, as they make rare appearances on our Instagram feed since they don’t get to travel with us outside of driving distance. You can follow them on their Instagram feed at pawsnphillietheakks.
